How much does an AI receptionist cost per month?
A direct answer from published pricing pages, with every number linked to its source. Last checked October 24 to 27, 2026.
Short answer
Published AI receptionist plans for small businesses start at about $29 to $99 per month, and most small shops will land between $49 and $149 per month. Busier shops pay around $299 per month. A human answering service costs far more: Smith.ai's human-first plan starts at $300 per month for 30 calls (Smith.ai pricing). These are list prices from vendor pages we checked October 24 to 27, 2026. We have not tested these products, and prices change, so confirm on each vendor's site.

What actually changes your monthly bill
- The billing unit. Vendors bill by minutes (Rosie, My AI Front Desk, Roofr), unique customers (Goodcall), conversations (Jobber), answered calls (Odile) or a flat fee (Jobholler). Prices are not directly comparable across units; see our 2026 pricing study for price per included unit.
- Your call volume. Minutes needed = calls per month times average call length. Example only: 100 calls at 3 minutes each is 300 minutes, which is more than Rosie Professional's 250 or My AI Front Desk's 200. Check your phone log for your real numbers.
- Overage rates. My AI Front Desk lists $0.25 per extra voice minute (My AI Front Desk pricing). Jobber lists $0.79 per extra conversation and can pause at the limit instead (Jobber Receptionist help article). Rosie's overage rate is not shown on its pricing page. Unverified.
- Features on higher tiers. On Rosie, direct calendar booking and live transfers start on the $149 Scale plan (Rosie pricing). If you need those, the $49 plan is not your real price.

FAQ
Is there a free AI receptionist?
Not free for ongoing use among the tools we checked, but several have trials. Rosie lists a 7-day free trial (Rosie pricing). Jobholler lists a 7-day trial with no card. Odile says its $199 plan is free until it books your first job (Odile pricing); what counts as a booked job is not defined, so that is unverified. Goodcall offers a free demo agent (Goodcall pricing).
What is the cheapest AI receptionist?
On published list prices, Odile Solo ($29/mo, up to 40 answered calls) and Jobber Receptionist ($29/mo add-on, but it needs a Jobber plan) were the lowest we found, followed by Rosie Professional at $49/mo. Cheapest is not the same as best fit: check minutes, booking and emergency routing.
Is an AI receptionist cheaper than a human answering service?
On list prices, yes. Smith.ai human-first starts at $10 per included call ($300 for 30), while AI plans start under $100 a month for hundreds of minutes. We have not compared quality.
Did AnswerVerdict test these?
No. This page summarizes published pricing only. Rosie is an affiliate partner of this site; we earn nothing from Goodcall, Smith.ai, Jobholler or Odile.
